This week’s tip is regarding adjusting label margins (this applies to all standard label reports within Q).
With it being end of term at this time for most schools, users are sending report cards home (for those parents that have opted out of receiving digital copies), and this tip will help if you find your labels are printing too closely to the label edge, or even in some cases data may be printing off your labels entirely depending on the amount of data included on the label.
If you find yourself in this situation, the table that can be adjusted to correct these margin values is called LabelDimensionalData. This table stores the default margin values for 3 types of labels, whether you are printing 30 labels per sheet (most common), 20 per sheet, or 14 labels per sheet.

If you find your labels need a larger margin on the left, adjust the LeftMargin value, and if you find the data is printing off the bottom of the label, adjust the BottomMargin. You may
also need/want to adjust the top and right margins – it is just a matter of changing this value and re-visiting what the label looks like when printed.
A tip I use is rather than printing on the actual labels each time is print on a regular piece of paper and hold this up to the labels to ensure the data all prints within the labels. Once you confirm they look great, you can then print onto the labels! This helps lessen the waste of labels if data is not printed as expected while adjusting these margins.
